CITY OF MALOLOS- More than 900 school-based Public Employment Service Office students from different colleges and universities in Bulacan learned the ropes in job hunting through 'READY. GET SET. HIRED!', a career development program organized by the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Youth, Sports, and Public Employment Service Office (PYSPESO) held today at The Pavilion in Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center here.

Students from Bulacan State University, Bulacan Polytechnic College, Baliwag University, Colegio de San Gabriel Arcangel, Bulacan Agricultural State College, STI, Meycauayan College and Immaculate Concepcion College of Arts and Technology learned about Power Dressing and Resume Writing, Job Hunting and Job Interview, and Work Ethics and Attitudes.

According to Jayson Vinta, officer-in-charge of the Youth Division of PYSPESO, the students who participated in the activity were given a walk through of the do's and don'ts in job hunting and were abreast with the latest trends in accomplishing remarkable application strategies.

"Maganda siya kasi winalk in namin sila sa mga employment process ng mga companies, na experience na nila agad, sa school matututunan naman nila 'yung mga theories lang, pero dito actual sila na naka-meet ng mga HR ng company, updated na rin 'yung mga module na itinuro ngayon. Dati resume writing lang, ngayon video at online resume na. Aside from that, 'yung mga technicalities, 'yung work ethics and attitudes para maging sustainable sila sa work, natutunan din nila," Vinta said.

Meanwhile, the guest of honor who was a former senator and current President of The Manila Hotel, Atty. Jose D. Lina, Jr., advised the students to patronize and serve their own country instead of working abroad.

"You cannot separate or detached yourself from what is happening in our country, sapagkat kung mayaman ang ating bayan, ay yayaman din tayong lahat, at gusto naman nating yumaman para mag-enjoy tayo sa ating buhay. 'Yung yamang 'yan ay dapat na maibahagi sa ating mga kababayan, in short mayamang bansa ang pangarap natin para sa ating bayan, at 'yung yamang yan ay nararapat lamang na maibahagi sa lahat ng mga mamamayan ng maisalba natin ang mga mahihirap nating kababayan," Atty. Lina said.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado on the other hand highlighted the difference between knowledge and capability.

"Iba ang kaalaman at iba ang kakayanan, kaya't bukod sa karanasan ay napaka halaga rin ng edukasyon, halimbawa sa Hagonoy, sa kalendaryo nila makikita na agad alam na agad kung kailan mataas ang tubig at kung kailan walang mataas na tubig dahil inaral nila yon," the governor said.

Furthermore, Alizel M. Galsim, a student from STI Balagtas, shared her experience upon joining the activity. "Para sa akin, okay naman siya, worth it naman. Maganda 'yung nagbahagi sila ng good advices tungkol sa pag- graduate namin para magkaroon kami ng idea about job hunting, about sa pag-aapply ng trabaho. Maganda rin na shinare nila sa programa 'yung about sa resume, na hindi naman kailangan pahabaan o paramihan ng page sa resume, ang kailangan kahit maikli lang basta 'yung lahat ng importante mailagay," Galsim said.
